What is SAP Education?

SAP Education provides practical, online substance use education for DOT-regulated and other safety-sensitive employees. The goal is to help people understand substance-related risk, safety expectations, and how to make compliant, safer decisions at work and at home.

Who are these courses for?

  • Employees who work in DOT-regulated roles or other safety-sensitive positions.
  • Employees who have been asked by an employer, SAP, MRO, or program to complete education.
  • Employers who want a consistent, documented education option for teams.

Are these courses DOT-compliant?

  • The courses are designed to support DOT and safety-sensitive workplace expectations.
  • “Compliance” requirements can vary by employer, SAP, and return-to-duty plan. If you are completing education as part of a return-to-duty process, confirm course requirements with the requesting party before enrolling.

Is this a SAP (Substance Abuse Professional) evaluation?

  • The courses are not SAP evaluations. The education courses are separate and are strictly educational.
  • Yes, SAP evaluation services are available as a separate service for DOT-regulated employees who need an assessment as part of the DOT return-to-duty process.

Do you provide SAP evaluations?

Yes. SAP evaluations are offered as a professional service separate from the online courses.

What is included in a SAP evaluation?

  • An initial SAP assessment.
  • Written recommendations and required education or treatment referrals (as applicable).
  • Follow-up evaluation(s) based on the DOT return-to-duty process.

Can I do a SAP evaluation online?

In many cases, yes. Availability depends on your situation, state, and scheduling.

Course Details

How long does each course take?

Most learners complete the course in about twelve (12-hours).

Is this DOT-compliant?

  • Your pace may vary depending on reading speed and knowledge checks.

What topics do the courses cover?

Core topics typically include:
  • Workplace safety and impairment risk
  • DOT testing basics and expectations (where applicable)
  • Marijuana/THC: today’s potency, impairment, edibles, and common misconceptions
  • Alcohol: impairment, hangover risk, and decision-making
  • Other substances and polydrug risk (mixing substances)
  • Personal risk factors, stress, and relapse prevention basics
  • Practical strategies for staying safe and compliant

Is there a test or assessment?

  • Courses include knowledge checks to confirm understanding.
  • A completion requirement may include passing a final quiz or meeting a minimum score.

What happens if I don’t pass?

  • You can review the material and retake the assessment.
  • If you need a completion certificate by a deadline, start early to allow time for retakes.

Certificates & Completion

Will I receive a certificate?

Yes. After you meet the course completion requirements, you will receive a Certificate of Completion.

How do I access my certificate?

  • You can download it immediately after completion.
  • If enabled, a copy may also be emailed to you.

Is the certificate accepted by employers?

  • The certificate documents that you completed education content and met course requirements.
  • Acceptance depends on the requesting party (employer, SAP, MRO, union program, etc.). If needed, share the course description and completion details with them before enrolling.

How long is the certificate valid?

Certificates do not “expire,” but some employers or programs may require education within a specific timeframe. Follow the timeline provided by the requesting party.

Access & Technical

How do I enroll in a course?

Choose your course, complete checkout, and you will receive access instructions by email.

Can I access courses on mobile?

Yes. Courses are mobile-friendly and can be completed on a phone, tablet, or computer.

How long do I have access to the course?

Standard access is thirty days (30 days) from enrollment (unless otherwise stated on the course page).

What if I have technical issues?

  • The email used at checkout

  • A brief description of the issue (screenshots help)

Policies

What is your refund policy?

  • Because course access is delivered immediately, refunds are generally not available once a course has been started.
  • If you purchased the wrong course or have an access issue, contact support@pinnaclesapservices.com and we will help resolve it.

Do you share my information with employers?

  • By default, certificates are provided to the learner.
  • If you need a certificate sent directly to an employer, SAP, or representative, contact support with written instructions and the recipient’s email.

Is this treatment or counseling?

  • No. The courses are educational and do not replace treatment, counseling, or medical advice.
